Richard Fischel is an accomplished real estate lending professional with proven success in the business and legal environments.  Mr. Fischel has over 20 years experience in commercial mortgage loan negotiations and closings, special servicing, loan modifications, workouts, foreclosures, as well as portfolio and whole loan sales.  Mr. Fischel has extensive experience in CMBS lending, having closed over 800 commercial conduit real estate mortgage loans totaling more than $10 billion as a senior closer with Bank of America and as lender’s counsel at top tier law firms.

In addition, Mr. Fischel’s experience in loan workouts, as Co-Head Large Loan Special Servicing at Bank of America, includes: dispositions of numerous loan portfolios, including a portfolio of 238 distressed multifamily loans to multiple investors; negotiation of a “friendly” foreclosure of a 650-room luxury resort hotel inclusive of managing the sales/marketing process; successful resolution of a $340 million maturity default of a trophy office asset; foreclosure on and construction completion of a New York City office building rehabilitation and repositioning loan; loan restructuring of a $68 million regional mall; and negotiated the discounted payoff of a $38 million multi borrower/property mixed use portfolio loan. Mr. Fischel has been recognized throughout his career for strong client interface skills, problem solving and teamwork.

Career Track

Prior to Joining Brighton Capital Advisors, Mr. Fischel held positions with various law firms and lending institutions, including: Moore & Van Allen, PLLC, Winstead PC, Bank of America, N.A., The New York State Common Retirement Fund (New York State Office of the Comptroller), and Willkie Farr & Gallagher.  Prior to attending law school, Mr. Fischel had a 15-year career as an environmental consultant and geologist.

Mr. Fischel has a BS degree in marine science and geology from the University of Miami and a law degree from New York Law School.
